Open Working Trials 20th/21st March 2010 at Tollesbury
A big, big thank you to everyone who helped make Iceni’s latest Working Trial such a success. It was lovely to see so many members competing. Congratulations to those who qualified (see the results section)
A really big ‘thank you’ to everyone who turned up at our trials - I was so overwhelmed with offers of help that I couldn’t find enough jobs for everyone to do - an enviable position but still a headache. If you offered and still didn’t have a job - please still offer again next year.
A lot of people don’t realise just how much help Colin is to me as he’s not out there doing the jobs that are noticed, but quietly (sometimes) gets on with all the odd jobs that need doing - putting out signs, jumps etc, delivering presents, keeping the tea urn filled, fetching scores and so on. Jane Clarke was in the hall with me doing all sorts of jobs from making sandwiches to doing the scores.
Les Theobald and and Mark Lewindon laid all the TD tracks between them, Gary Martin laid WD and UD both days with Colin Diggins one day and Sandra Lewindon the other. Sandra then came back and wrote the certificates in her beautiful calligraphic writing. Graham Blake and Caron McLure stewarded both days and Lisa Morgan, Rhiannon Coventry, Elaine Mills and Marion Burchell did stints in the kitchen. Alan Wright, Chris Theobald and Colin Ball escorted competitors to their tracks, a service we like to provide here at Iceni. Nick Brunner came and helped get out and put away the jumps. Best of all, lots of people stayed behind to help clear up at the end. Thank you all so much
One competitor even told us that she had travelled all the way from the Midlands to compete even though there was a trial much nearer home - just because the atmosphere and tracking land are so much better here.
Lastly - but not least - didn’t we have some nice judges! It all helps.
Atmosphere - that is what makes a good trial. Competitors happy they have had a fair deal and mingling, chatting and generally have a nice time with each other and club members . Qualifications are the icing on the cake.
